BJHS Orchestra News

The final concert for the orchestras at BJHS, the “String Extravaganza” will take place on Thursday, May 11 in the auditorium at Bloomington High School at 7:30 P.M. There will be four extra early rehearsals (7:15 A.M.) for this concert; Wednesday May 3, Friday May 5, Monday May 8 and Wednesday May 10. Thank you to all the parents and students who have been so important to the music program here at Bloomington Junior High School!

Art Students Show Work at McDonalds

BJHS Tour and "A Day in the Life" Videos are Now Online

Visitors to the BJHS website can now view a virtual tour of our facility, and they can follow a sixth grade class through a typical school day. These two videos were created with the help of Mrs. Nicoson's 6J2 class, who took pictures and narrated the "Day in the Life" video. The videos can be found on the site in the About Us section, or clicking the Quick Links drop-down menu in the top right section, or through these BJHS Tour and A Day in the Life links.

Seventh Grade Students Learn Disability Awareness

Kim Ringhausen remembers junior high school as a time when other children sometimes teased her about her visual disability."I grew up in a really small town and there was a lot of ignorance about it," she said. Junior high school, in particular, was not an easy time.

The Illinois State University senior hopes visits like the one she and fellow student Jake Brownell made Friday to talk with Mrs. Wolfe's BJHS seventh-graders can make people with disabilities more understandable to kids. They discussed topics ranging from etiquette around people to whether they hate having a visual impairment. Read more

BJHS Math-a-Thon Fundraiser for St. Jude

Congratulations to Bloomington Junior High School students! Through your efforts with the MATH-A-THON, you helped raise $3467.24 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Congratulations also to Jamie McMillan from 7H, who raised $320 for the cause and is the BJHS top money raiser!
